FOR THE LOVE OF UNDYED

You either absolutely love undyed leather or can’t stand it. It gains its distinction because it is unfinished. It is tanned, but not treated or dyed. As such, it shows every skin blemish, stretchmark, etc. It is the most natural and delicate leather. It will pick up everything.

Undyed leather from Gillio and VDS is by far the most squishy and pliable leather that I’ve found. It’s buttery soft and beautiful.

Over time, the leather begins to tell a story as it picks up the oils from your skin and soaks up the sun. It will patina unevenly. The leather picks up everything. It is not for those wanting a uniform look with no stains or imperfections. As it patinas, the undyed leather will begin to turn into more of a gold and then a rust color.

I’ve found the Apple Garde helps with the patina distributing more evenly. Plus, it can’t hurt. It does not change the original color in any noticeable way. But, undyed leather changes tone and color constantly.

I’ve owned undyed leather planners from VDS, Gillio, and YardLeatherSmith. I love my Gillio Personal Wide in undyed the most! But, my VDS codex is a close second. YardLeatherSmith is a great less expensive option!
